We aim to link local charities and organisations together, harnessing support, resources and manpower to help Sydney's homeless population
Who Runs It
Stephanie Markos is a 17-year-old high school student from Sydney, and through being involved in feeding the homeless in Woolloomooloo, was inspired at the age of 14 to start Helping Our Own, Oz. She wants to give back, and team up with people to make a difference for Sydney’s homeless, who she has discovered come from all walks of life. From the age of 13, Stephanie has also been coaching children with disabilities so that they can advance their soccer skills as well as interactive skills.
Stephanie’s goal is to link local charities and organisations together, harnessing support, resources and manpower to help Sydney’s homeless population. Her program involves putting together seasonal care packages, made up of items donated from local schools, individuals and charities, and handed out at food fans frequented by homeless members of our communities.
Below are the current projects and programs we are working on.
Families in need requiring urgent help and care are given access to food and emergency provisions.
Seasonal Care Packages
Designed for the needs of the seasons, these varied care packages are handed out at shelters and food trucks to those in need and homeless. Donations are taken from schools, and purchased with givings from businesses and organisations.
Feeding The Homeless
Supporting local trucks and centres were the homeless and in need go to be fed. Acting as volunteers in centres, making our presence known in the community as a support.
Partnering Businesses & Organisations
Linking together businesses with local organisations making a difference to those in need. These partnerships mean more resources and a targeting response to homelessness and poverty in our city.
